Statewide Agricultural Export Service Provider
The Fresno Center for International Trade Development (CITD) takes a results oriented approach to export development. Each year the Center tracks the progress of its clients. During the 2008/2009 program year, we had $3.3 million in new export sales, and $12 million in 12-month projected sales that are direct results of the trade missions our Center facilitates. Center experience over the past 20 years has included:
Host incoming buying missions and train international visitors.- One-on-one research, training, and export sales for individual firms.
- Since 2003, has served as the “defacto export arm” of CDFA and lead all incoming international food & agricultural buying missions to California.
- Proven track record of having served more than 400 companies, generated $3 million in export sales, and trained 75 incumbent workers in 2009 alone.
- Coordinated and lead over 150 agricultural trade missions to and from California and trained over 5,000 companies.
- Documented success of more than $45 million in direct sales from trades missions, another $600 million in ongoing export sales, as well as numerous awards, e.g. President “E Award” for Export Excellence in 2001.
- Manage over one million dollars annually in grants (Federal, State, and local).
- Foreign market research and strategic planning for state and federal agencies.
- Industry studies, surveys and analysis of trade opportunities and problems.
- Promote international education through faculty and student development projects.
“ When we arise in the morning, we reach for a sponge which is provided for us by a Pacific islander. We reach for soap that is created for us by a European. Then at the table we drink coffee which is provided for us by a South American, or tea by a Chinese, or cocoa by a West African. Before we leave for our jobs we are already beholden to more than half of the world”.
