Virtual Office of International Education

When you think international, think of us! Since 1989, the State Center Community College District (SCCCD) has successfully hosted and managed the nationally recognized, award winning Export Center program, also known as the Fresno Center for International Trade Development (CITD). Why is this important to international education?
- Awarded over $115,000 in funding to 62 faculty development projects over the past 7 years.
- Provided student stipends in excess of $60,000 over the past three years to SCCCD students to participate in study abroad and leadership/entrepreneurship conferences; awards were based on economic needs and leadership potential.
- Award winning internship program, that provided opportunities for 170 students and enabled 150 job placements all over the globe with companies such as CitiCorp London, Dole Japan, Sunmaid and Duncan Enterprises, Starbucks, PeopleSoft, and Citicorp.
The Virtual Office of International Education (VOIE) is the focal point for international activities for the campuses of SCCCD. The needs of SCCCD for sustainable curricula and a faculty that keeps abreast of a rapidly changing world will be met by providing college faculty with international education and training programs and by the faculty infusing international content into their courses. VOIE is a resource for:
- International students
- Students wishing to study abroad
- Faculty members interested in international professional development
The VOIE works with faculty members and colleges to internationalize courses, programs, and curricula. The Center manages university partnerships with institutions abroad as well as maintains a small library for those interested in international travel or collaboration. It works closely with district offices and national organizations with which the college is affiliated – the Center of International Trade Development (CITD), Community Colleges for International Development, and the National Association of Small Business International Trade Educators.
